Following on from my last post, I stumbled across this beautiful contemporary table lamp by David Taylor.
Using polished brass for the base and a large shadeless bulb, this lamp will look fabulous forever, regardless of current design trends.
See... I do like contemporary lights too!

Habitat - My How You've Changed!
There was a time (mid 90's) when Habitat was a watch word for boho style, with a fusion of contemporary artisanal products with more traditional, ethnic pieces.
Those days are long gone and looking at their current offering, they have placed themselves well and truly at the contemporary end of things.
This Ribbon lamp is a case in point.
Here's what Habitat say:
Frankly, it's not my cup of tea at all and falls into the "trying too hard" school of design that seems all too prevalent these days
I miss the old Habitat...

This Ribbon lamp is a case in point.
Here's what Habitat say:
Ribbon-inspired metal table lamp. A design that mixes curves and straight lines in sleek coloured powder coated metal. The striking form was perfected using a continuous strip of paper; the result is a unique table lamp that casts reflected light from within the polished surfaces.

Beautiful Dress Lamp From Foscarini
Bit of a blast from the past here, but this dress lamp from italian design house Foscarini looks as good today as it did back in 1996.
This is the acid test for me... will your lamp choices look as great in 15 years as they do today?
If not, perhaps it's time to look at the environmental impact of buying something you're going to throw away, eh?
